Workplace collaboration training
One day · in-person
A one-day course for teams who need to work together more effectively across boundaries. You will map where collaboration is breaking down, clarify roles, and build practical habits that stick.
Most organisations say they want collaboration. Fewer know what that actually looks like in practice - or how to make it happen when teams are siloed, stretched, and protecting their own priorities.
This course is about making collaboration real. Not through team-building exercises or motivational talks, but by changing the structures, habits, and conversations that determine how people actually work together.
What you will work on
You will work on your own team or cross-functional group throughout the day, using proven tools to diagnose what is getting in the way of collaboration and design practical changes.
The day covers three areas:
Understanding what is really going on - Before you can improve collaboration, you need to see clearly where it is breaking down and why. You will map how work actually flows between people and teams - where information gets stuck, where decisions get made twice, where handoffs fall apart. This is not about blame. It is about seeing the system clearly so you can change it.
Clarifying who does what - A surprising amount of poor collaboration comes down to unclear roles. People duplicate work, wait for decisions no one knows they are supposed to make, or avoid tasks they assume belong to someone else. You will use tools like RACI to map roles and responsibilities for your most important processes - and find the gaps.
Building habits that sustain collaboration - Good collaboration is not a one-off event. It comes from consistent habits - how meetings are run, how information is shared, how teams check in with each other. You will design practical collaboration rituals that fit into how your team already works, rather than adding new overhead.
Who this is for
Teams, managers, and leaders who need people to work together more effectively across boundaries. Whether the problem is siloed departments, inefficient handoffs, duplicated effort, or simply a lack of shared direction - this course gives you tools to address it.
Works best when attended by the team together, so you build solutions collaboratively.
What you will take away
A clear map of where collaboration is breaking down in your team or organisation. A RACI matrix for your most important cross-team process. A collaboration charter - a simple, shared agreement about how you will work together. And a set of practical rituals you can start using straight away.
How the day works
The format is interactive and practical. You will alternate between diagnostic exercises, framework inputs, and working sessions where you build solutions for your own context. The emphasis is on doing, not just learning.
Groups work best at eight to twenty people - large enough for cross-team dynamics, small enough for genuine conversation.
What makes this different
This is not a course about the theory of collaboration. It is about changing the practical structures - roles, processes, habits, meetings - that determine whether collaboration actually happens. If your organisation needs deeper support with how teams and structures work together, our organisational development consultancy and organisational design consultancy can help design systems that make collaboration the default, not the exception.
