Manager Coaching
Coaching for managers who want to do a good job of leading their people. Not executive coaching for the boardroom - practical support for the people doing the day-to-day work of managing teams.
Who this is for
You're a manager. Maybe you were promoted because you were great at your previous role, and now you're doing something completely different - leading other people. Maybe you've been managing for a while but something has shifted: a bigger team, a difficult person, a change in what's expected of you.
Nobody really teaches you how to manage. Most of us learn by copying what we've seen - which is fine until it isn't. You want to be a good manager. You want your team to enjoy working with you and to do great work. But some days you're not sure you're getting it right, and there's nobody to ask.
Manager coaching is for people in exactly this position. It's practical, focused on the real situations you're dealing with, and designed to help you build the skills and confidence to manage well - not perfectly, but well.
What it looks like
Starting conversation
We talk about what's going on for you as a manager. What's working? What's difficult? What situations keep coming up? What would you like to be better at? This shapes what we work on.
Coaching sessions
Typically four to six sessions over two to four months. Sessions are focused and practical - we work on real situations from your week, not hypothetical scenarios. If you've got a difficult conversation coming up, we prepare for it. If something went badly, we unpack what happened and figure out what to do differently.
Practical tools
Where it's useful, I'll share practical approaches and tools - how to structure a one-to-one, how to give feedback that actually helps, how to delegate without micromanaging, how to manage up. Not theory - things you can try immediately.
Between sessions
I might suggest something to try or pay attention to between sessions. Nothing complicated - just enough to keep the learning connected to the real work.
There is a lot of manager coaching out there. Here is what makes this different.
What makes this different
For managers, not executives
This isn't repackaged executive coaching with a lower price tag. It's designed specifically for the challenges of managing people day-to-day: the conversations, the decisions, the juggling act, the emotional load.
Focused on your real situations
Every session starts with what's actually happening for you. We work with your team, your challenges, your organisation - not generic management scenarios.
Skills and confidence together
Good managing isn't just about technique. It's about having the confidence to have that difficult conversation, to give honest feedback, to trust your team to do their jobs. We work on both.
What people take away
Confidence in difficult conversations
The ability to have the conversations that matter - performance issues, feedback, disagreements - without dreading them or avoiding them.
Better one-to-ones
A simple, practical approach to one-to-one meetings that makes them genuinely useful for both you and the person you're managing.
Clearer delegation
Understanding when to be hands-on and when to step back. Trusting your team without abandoning them.
Less stress, more enjoyment
Managing is hard, but it doesn't have to be draining. When you've got the skills and confidence to do it well, it becomes something you can actually enjoy.
A way of thinking about management
Not a set of rules, but a way of approaching the role that makes sense to you and that you can keep developing long after the coaching ends.
