Burke-Litwin Change Model - Free Template

A systems-level framework that maps how different parts of an organisation connect and influence each other during change. It distinguishes between transformational factors (mission, leadership, culture) and transactional factors (structure, climate, motivation) to help leaders see where to focus for the biggest impact.

What's in this Burke-Litwin Change Model template

A structured template covering all twelve factors in the Burke-Litwin model, organised into the three layers: drivers of change (external environment), transformational factors (mission, leadership, culture, structure), and transactional factors (climate, task requirements, skills, motivation, individual needs). Includes prompts for assessing each factor and mapping how they connect.

Tips for using it

Start with the external environment - it sets the context for everything else. Then work through the transformational factors before the transactional ones, because changes at the top cascade downward. The real value is in mapping the connections between factors, not just assessing each one in isolation.
