What's in this BPM Lifecycle template

The toolkit includes three pages designed to support your process improvement work:

A visual guide to the complete BPM Lifecycle, showing how the five stages connect as a continuous cycle. Use it to orient your team and establish a shared understanding of where you are in the process.

A summary card with the essentials: what each stage involves, how to approach it well, common pitfalls to watch for, and related tools that complement the lifecycle approach.

A connection to Mutomorro's Structure and Operations work, showing how BPM fits within a broader approach to operational effectiveness - from initial process mapping through to sustained improvement.

Tips for using it

Start with a process your team finds genuinely frustrating. The first cycle works best when the pain is real and visible, not when you're optimising something that's already working reasonably well.

Map the current state before designing the future state. Skipping this step is the single most common reason BPM initiatives stall - teams design improvements to a process they haven't properly understood.

Keep each cycle focused. Trying to improve everything at once usually means nothing improves meaningfully. Pick two or three specific aspects to target in each pass through the lifecycle.

Use the monitor stage to build the case for the next cycle. Good monitoring data makes it much easier to secure time and attention for the optimise and redesign stages that follow.
