What are Belbin’s Team Roles?

The nine roles are: Resource Investigator, Teamworker, Co-ordinator, Plant, Monitor Evaluator, Specialist, Shaper, Implementer, and Completer Finisher.

Allowable weaknesses

Resource Investigators may sometimes appear overly optimistic, which can lead to unrealistic expectations or over-commitment. They may also have a tendency to lose interest in a project once the initial excitement has waned, meaning they may need support to see tasks through to completion.

Teamworker

Teamworkers may struggle with assertiveness, which can lead to a reluctance to express their own opinions or challenge others. They may also have a tendency to avoid making difficult decisions, preferring to seek consensus and maintain harmony at all costs.

Characteristics

Teamworkers are patient, good-natured, and diplomatic. They value relationships and harmony within the team, and are skilled at fostering a sense of cooperation and unity.

Co-ordinator

Co-ordinators are confident, decisive, and goal-oriented. They have a strong strategic focus and are skilled at directing and motivating others to achieve the team’s objectives.

Shaper

Implementer
